The angel
Angels are celestial messengers and communicators of revelations.
According to tradition, the angels were organised in a heavenly hierarchy, led by seven archangels. The angels are divided into cherubs, with one pair of wings, and seraphs with three pairs of wings. The seraphs stand guard beside God’s throne.
The statue
Since God himself cannot be depicted, the angel in this statue symbolises God expelling Adam and Eve from the Garden of Eden.
