Adam
Adam was created by God and is the first person we meet in the Book of Genesis.
Adam lived a life free of sin in the Garden of Eden together with Eve. However, they were both expelled from Paradise after being tempted by a serpent to eat the forbidden fruit from the Tree of Knowledge.
Adam became a farmer who cultivated the soil and kept livestock. Together with Eve, he had many children and is considered the forefather of all humankind.
According to medieval tradition, Adam was buried at Golgotha, and the cross on which Jesus died was planted directly above his grave. This symbolises that, for God, Jesus represented the start of a new chapter in human history.
